Predator
Is Predator (1987) a horror movie? Of course! What makes this movie great? It begins with an elite military rescue team operating at peak bravado, but that confidence quickly evaporates. The team is soon confronted with a series of confusing events that breed fear and paranoia. The tension starts when a cabinet minister is shot down in enemy territory by a heat-seeking weapon—something far too sophisticated for the local guerrillas. The mystery deepens when the team discovers a squad of Green Berets had been sent in before them and walked into an ambush. The scene baffles the soldiers: scattered shell casings indicate the Green Berets were firing frantically in all directions, yet there are no enemy tracks to be found. The true horror sets in when they finally locate the missing men, only to find them skinned alive and hanging upside down in the jungle.
